Why portfolio trackers can't tell you what you're worth

18 Jul 2026 · FynVeda

The Indian financial ecosystem has digitised impressively. Banking, investing, insurance and credit all work from a phone. Yet individuals still can't assemble the pieces into one picture.

What gets left out

Open any portfolio app and note what it can see:

Now note what it can't:

For a large share of households, the invisible list is worth several times the visible one.

The category problem

Existing products organise around transactions, investments or taxation. Each is a legitimate category. None of them is wealth.

FynVeda organises around wealth itself — which means it has to accept messy, illiquid, hard-to-value things rather than only the assets that come with a clean API.

The trade-off we accept

Some of this data will be entered by hand at first, and some valuations will be estimates. That's fine. A considered estimate of your whole position is more useful than a precise measurement of one-third of it.

Account Aggregator connectivity will automate more of the picture over time. It will never automate all of it, and a platform that only shows the automatable parts is back to being a portfolio tracker.
